Privacy
This site has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no mailing list. What follows is the complete list of what is collected while you read it.
Stoa Games is a set of free guides. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to buy, and no form anywhere on the site. We do not ask for your name or your email address, and we have no mailing list to add you to.
Four things still involve data, and all four are listed below.
Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides people read. It records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and how you arrived. It sets cookies in your browser to do this.
Two additional events are recorded: how far down a guide you scrolled, and whether you clicked a link that leaves the site, such as the link to the National Mah Jongg League’s store. Both are recorded as counts against a page, not against you.
Google receives this data and processes it under its own terms. You can stop it by blocking analytics in your browser, using a content blocker, or installing Google’s opt-out add-on.
Analytics runs only on the published site. It is disabled when the site is run locally during development.
Google Fonts
The typefaces are loaded from Google’s font service. Your browser requests them from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request. This happens on every page.
Hosting
The site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub keeps server logs, which include visitor IP addresses. We do not have access to those logs and do not receive them.
Your theme choice
If you switch the site between light and dark, that choice is saved in your own browser under the key sg-theme. It stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and clearing your browser data removes it.
What we do not do
We do not sell data, and we have none to sell. There is no advertising on this site and no advertising network embedded in it. We do not build profiles of readers, and we do not share anything with third parties beyond the services named above.
Children
These guides are written for adults learning a game. The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Questions and requests
If you want to know what is held about you, or want it removed, write to hello@getstoagames.com. Because the site holds no accounts and no contact records, most such requests concern Google Analytics data rather than anything we store, and blocking analytics in your browser is the faster route.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Stoa Games is published by EPM Labs, LLC.
