Terms of Use

The guides are free to read and free to use at your own table. These terms cover the few things that need saying: what is ours, what we do not promise, and where the National Mah Jongg League's rights begin.

By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not, the site is free to leave.

What you may do with the guides

Read them, print them, and use what they teach at your own table. Quote a passage with a link back if you are writing about the games.

The guides, the site design and the illustrations are the work of EPM Labs, LLC and are protected by copyright. Republishing a guide in whole or in substantial part, or using them to train a model or generate competing content, is not permitted without written consent.

What is not promised

The guides are educational writing, not a rulebook of record. Card and tile games are played under house rules that vary between tables, leagues and countries, and where a guide differs from the rules your group plays by, your group is right.

The site is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be accurate or current, and to the extent the law allows, EPM Labs, LLC is not liable for any loss arising from its use.

The National Mah Jongg League

American Mahjong is played with a card published each year by the National Mah Jongg League. That card is their copyrighted work.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by the National Mah Jongg League. Nothing on this site reproduces the hands printed on their card. Our guides teach the card’s notation so you can read the card you own, which you buy from the League or an authorized seller.

If you believe anything on this site infringes a copyright you hold, write to hello@getstoagames.com and we will review it.

Some guides link out, including to the National Mah Jongg League’s store. Those sites are not ours, we do not control what they publish, and a link is not an endorsement.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top of the page changes with them. Stoa Games is published by EPM Labs, LLC.
